As a Refuse/Recycling Driver you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a range of refuse and recycling collection vehicles supporting the delivery of high-quality waste management services across the borough. Working as part of a collection crew you will ensure collections are completed safely efficiently and in accordance with operational procedures while maintaining excellent standards of customer service and road safety.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate Class 2 refuse and recycling vehicles ranging from 7.5 tonnes to 27 tonnes.
Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report any defects in line with company procedures.
Complete scheduled refuse and recycling collection routes efficiently and safely.
Work closely with the collection crew to ensure waste is collected in accordance with service standards.
Drive in compliance with all road traffic legislation health and safety regulations and council policies.
Ensure vehicles are loaded safely and within legal weight limits.
Report incidents accidents missed collections or service issues promptly.
Maintain accurate records and complete any required paperwork or electronic documentation.
Provide a courteous and professional service when interacting with members of the public.
Support operational requirements by working flexibly across different collection routes when required.
Requirements
Valid Category C (Class 2) driving licence (minimum requirement).
Valid Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
Experience driving large commercial vehicles ideally within refuse recycling or similar operational services.
Good understanding of road safety legislation and safe driving practices.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a physically demanding environment.
Reliable punctual and committed to delivering high standards of service.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and members of the public.
Additional Information
Location: As required by the service.
Hours per Week: 37 hours per week.
Pay: Bi-weekly payments.
