L3Harris in Brighton are part of our Release Systems & Antennas division operating in the Aerospace domain. For over 70 years L3Harris has designed and developed industry-leading carriage and release systems for fighter rotary-wing and unmanned platforms and we design manufacture and test a large portion of our release systems portfolio in our Brighton facility which offers 48500 square feet of manufacturing space. Our mission-critical release systems equipment is on most major airborne fighter platforms worldwide including the F-35 along with other aircraft like the Gripen and Typhoon.

The Quality Manager is a core member of the Operations leadership team providing guidance on the governance cadence development implementation leadership & measurement necessary to ensure total quality management within the company.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Ensuring the business adheres to governance standards regulations and customer requirements
  • Develop and set Quality goals proactively seeking opportunities to provide QA inputs to company and operational strategy.
  • Responsible for leading providing guidance coaching and training to the Quality team and other staff members.
  • Actively engage in reducing operating costs and increasing efficiency seeking ways to improve performance of KPIs. Utilize Lean Six Sigma techniques and the E3 (Excellence Everywhere Every day) strategy.
  • Lead the Quality team ensuring collaboration with the Supply Chain Manufacturing and Engineering Function to assure the quality of goods and services.
  • Listen to customer feedback understand their requirements and seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Benchmarking and adapting industry best practices to drive continual improvement in quality management processes.

What youll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

  • Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Management Systems with in-depth knowledge of manufacturing engineering development & project management.
  • The incumbent must have experience of managing Supplier Quality Assurance Quality Engineering and Quality Control personnel.
  • Substantial experience in a high complexity design and manufacturing environment preferably in the aerospace / defence industry.
  • Experience working in an ISO9001/AS9100 environment preferably with previous experience of developing / supporting / maintaining high standards of accreditation.
  • Previous experience in leading the solution for product realisation would be beneficial including APQP / PPAP customer interaction supplier interaction Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) support supplier component development & approval and supplier cost improvements.
