Quality Control Co-ordinator

The purpose of this role is to support the maintenance of the IQC (Internal Quality Control) and EQA (External Quality Assessment) and competency data across all laboratory areas. 

Please note this is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week - Monday - Friday 9:30 till 17:30. 

• Maintain and complete calibrations of all equipment across the Business Unit. 
• Ensure that Cultures required for the Media Quality control are maintained. 
• Report and investigate any media quality control failures without delay. 
• Carry out and support NCW investigations for sterility failures QC failures EQA failures and any other investigations as required. 
• Carry out method witness audits when required. 
• To ensure the correct use of PPE at all times. 
• Adapt a clean as you go mentality. 
• To be familiar with COSHH guidelines and working practices within the media and pathogen laboratory. 
• To ensure that all equipment is kept within recommended limits for calibration and maintenance in order to adhere to quality targets.
• Ensure that all work is conducted in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
• Advise Laboratory Manager without delay of any problems affecting operations in the production area of the laboratory. 
• Ensuring that any relevant paperwork related to the production and quality control of media is kept up to date.
• A flexible approach to work will be required to help assist other departments as and when required.
• Assist with continuous improvement within the Microbiology department. 

Qualifications :

• GCSEs in Maths and Science or equivalent. 
• Laboratory experience and knowledge of UKAS and ISO methods will be of advantage. 
• Experience in working in part of a team. 
• Good origination and time management.
• Good communication skills.
• Able to self-motivate.
