Project Technician
Job Summary
Our Archaeology and Historic Building business comprises a highly skilled team focused on providing historic environment consultancy and fieldwork services throughout the planning process from pre-land acquisition to the discharge of planning conditions. As a result of our success in fieldwork services we are seeking aProject Technician on a fixed-time (6-month contract) basis. This is a hybrid home and office-basedrole and the location of the positions can be flexible but it is expected that the successful candidates will be based out of either our Romsey Boxworth or Derby offices. The successful candidates will join a team of professionals who work closely with colleagues in other disciplines such as Ecology Planning and Landscape. Immediate appointments will be available.
The positions would best suit ambitious and highly motivated individuals with strong communications and time management skills who are looking to advance their career in commercial archaeology and client relationship management.
Successful candidates will work flexibly on a wide variety of archaeological geoarchaeological and environmental consultancy contracts in a fast moving client focussed commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Investigate archaeological features to a high standard and in accordance with the Written Scheme of Investigation and Chartered Institute for Archaeologists standards and guidance;
- Producing coherent archival records (written drawn and digital) of investigations in accordance with the WSI and CIfA standards and guidance;
- To work closely and liaise effectively with ADAS colleagues in a collaborative and supportive environment on and off-site;
- Carry out all work in compliance with the project Risk Assessment Method Statement and with due regard for all other health safety and wellbeing methodologies documentation and policies to ensure a safe working environment; and
- Ensuring that instructed work is delivered on time and of a high archaeological standard.
Person Specification
Essential
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude;
- Proven ability in archaeological recording techniques and accurate record keeping;
- Ability to carry out manual work in an outdoor environment in all weathers including working away from home;
- Right to work in the UK; and
- Full clean UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Previous professional experience working in commercial archaeological fieldwork 6 months ;
- Working knowledge of DGPS surveying techniques;
- PCIfA accreditation or higher grade with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists;
- Safety accreditation (e.g. CAT and Genny Training SSSTS off-road driving plant marshalling asbestos awareness etc.); and
- Degree level education or higher in a relevant subject.
