The design philosophy

At Fyxer design starts with human behaviour rather than with screens components or flows. We think the best product decisions come from understanding why people do what they do and working back from there. It isnt a principle we put on a wall. Its how we make decisions.

What youre walking into

Were not starting from zero. We have a creative designer on the team a visual identity built with Red Antler a design system and a product that real users depend on every day.

What we dont have is a senior product design voice. Someone who gets the first call across the company when a product experience or communication decision needs a human-behaviour lens on it.

Thats this role. Youll report to our Head of Product and work as the sole designer an early design hire alongside our engineers. Youll be the most senior product design hire weve made with real influence over what gets built and over how this company thinks about the people it builds for.

If you think understanding people is the hardest and most important part of design and that everything else follows from that this is the role for you.

You think in motivation habit and friction before you think in screens. You understand why people do what they do and you use that to make product decisions not just design decisions.

02. Craft and execution

You ship. You work directly with engineers and move fast without losing the quality that makes a product feel premium.

03. AI-native workflows

You understand how modern engineers build with AI tools and you think about design in that context. We care about principles components and systems that plug into engineering workflows rather than sitting in static documentation. Youre comfortable working close to implementation and you help keep experiences coherent while teams move quickly with AI-assisted development.

What youll be working on

Fyxer is an AI-powered productivity platform. Youll design interfaces where the AI does real work: raising something people missed live transcription deeply personalised drafts complex cross-surface workflows. They need to feel effortless despite genuine complexity underneath.

A large part of this role is interaction design. Were building products with real complexity under the hood and we care about making those experiences feel calm intuitive and coherent across every touchpoint such as:

• A dashboard experience that makes AI feel like a natural daily habit

• A real-time notetaker that generates live transcripts and captures the right context

• Personalised AI draft generation that adapts to each users communication style

Who you are

• You have 5 years designing in high-growth early-stage environments where structure was something you built not something you inherited.

• You understand technical constraints well enough to have a real conversation with an engineer not just hand over a Figma file.

• You run your own user research. You talk to users watch session recordings and use what you find to defend or change your design decisions.

• You move fast and use AI tools to help you. You know when to be rigorous and when to unblock someone with an MVP.

Nice to have: experience making design changes in the codebase.
