As Procurement Manager (Corporate) you will join at a period of exciting growth as youll lead and deliver procurementand commercial activities for capital works services and frameworks with specific focus on NEC4 contracts supporting a diverse portfolio of property across the ScottishPower estate.
You will be working in the Corporate procurement team providing advice in relation to sourcing andpurchasingactivities to stakeholdersup to Directorlevelas well asliaising with colleagues in the UK and globally to ensure sharing of information and delivery of best value from a common supply chain. Candidates with a quantity surveying background with experience in engineering and construction in the UK is desirable as the role includes commercial aspects of major infrastructure projects.
Whatyoullbe doing
The main objective of the position is to take a lead role in the implementation of high value agreements from contract strategy through to tendering award project development leading to delivery under the agreement. The role will include contractor engagement the management of internal and external relationships ongoing gathering of intelligence benchmarking and negotiation of high value contracts and the associated cost and commercial management.
Day to day with appropriate support from the Category Manager youll lead and support the commercial aspects of tender strategy and negotiations contract negotiations managing commercial and contractual activities both pre-contract and where appropriate post-contract to ensure delivery of best value whilst meeting Iberdrola Group processes. You will collaborate with colleagues to ensure that the commercial risks associated with the business requirements are identified understood and reflected in the appropriate technical and commercial information.
Key activities include:
- Assistingin the development and implementation of a procurement plan for the business to establishappropriate contracts to deliver the requirements
- Developing and implementing contract strategies and associated tenderer selection in liaison with the business and SP Credit Risk whilst considering wider Iberdrola Procurement issues
- Building a constructive partnership with business managers and other stakeholders
- Working closely with colleagues within the procurement function across Iberdrola to exploit areas of global procurement synergies / cost reduction and tofacilitatebenchmarking and optimise negotiation strategies
- Leading the tendering process and negotiation of commercial aspects of contracts to deliver the SP Business Planobjectives involving the mitigation of commercialriskand ensuring the compatibility of technical and commercial elements; preparation and negotiation of commercial schedules and ensuring compatibility with technical schedules
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate
- Striving to achieve both cost reduction and the best conditions available in the market through competitive and transparent procurement processes
- Preparing approval papers and leading the obtaining of authorisations for contracts whilst ensuring that the proposed contract is acceptable to the Business Unit Compliance Credit Risk Insurance and Legal
- Providing contractual support and advice to internal stakeholders in dealing with contractors and suppliers during the post-contract award phase to mitigate and resolve claims or contractor grievances
- Represent the Company in meeting with stakeholders and third parties for specific issues related with the procurement function
- Identifyingand recommending strategies for delivering improvements in value and whereappropriate toaddressinnovative technologies/new business activities
- Extending the supply chain byidentifyingand pre-qualifying potential new suppliers
- Deliveringa high levelof corporate governance by ensuring compliance with the Iberdrola/ScottishPower procurement policies processes and practices including the Iberdrola Group Ethics Code and anti-bribery requirements
Whatyoullbring
You will have experience in engineering and construction contracts in the UK and having a quantity surveying background is desirable. You will be familiar with evaluating supplier bids cost and commercial contract management and negotiations. You will possess experience of EPC type contracts and be familiar with the NEC3 or 4 engineering and construction contract. You will ideally have gained or are working towards full chartership status with a relevant professional body such as the RICS or CIPS.
Being a confident individual you will seek influence challenge and build credibility with key stakeholders and strive to deliver results to meet deadlines. All of this will be supported by your strong analytical and communication skills attention to detail working to timelines and confident in the use of Microsoft Excel to work with formulas and calculations to build cost models to evaluate supplier bids.
Knowledge of best practice procurement principles; experience of Public Procurement processes (Procurement Act 2023 Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations Utilities Contracts (Scotland) Regulations); practices and processes including both tactical and strategic procurement principles goodall-roundunderstanding of financialcommercialand business principles and risk mitigation practices plus sufficient knowledge of contract law to recognise any exposure and seekappropriate advicefrom the legal team whenrequiredis desirable.
MinimumCriteria
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a comparable commercial/procurement role
- Demonstrabletrack recordin negotiating and closing high value contracts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong numeracy skills as well as being proficient in MS Excel
