EniProgetti UK operates a SmartWorking policy allowing personnel to work for up to 12 working days/month from home or a similar secure location and these 12 days can be available even where personnel are on leave for a portion of the month. As such typically around 60% of time working remotely is available for individuals who wish to take advantage of this.
Role Overview
A Principal Engineer part of an Instrumentation & Automation team in Basingstoke UK supporting Enis globalengineering projects.
You will operate as a Telecommunications & Security technical engineer and Project Discipline Lead (PDL) on projects and engineering activities across all project phases including feasibility studies Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) detailed engineering support for EPC (Engineering Procurement & Construction) phases and decommissioning.
You will have the ability to manage time effectively to meet project goals ensuring timely communication and resolution of issues. As well as the ability to act as & support the I&A &/or T&S PDL by taking initiative and full accountability for assigned tasks.
The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers and designers to drive project performance throughout its full life cycle ensuring all deliverables are met budget and schedule are adhered to and technical integrity of the design is maintained.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Perform detailed calculations (optical link budgets volt drop calculations etc.) to support design activities and take responsibility for the accuracy and quality of these calculations.
- Ensure design methods standards and technical data are applied in accordance with Company Local & International requirements.
- Prepare and check all T&S deliverables including Philosophies Specifications (General Technical Supply etc.) Block Diagrams & Architectures Technical Cable Specification etc. Produce Cable Lists/Schedules perform CCTV and PA/GA Coverage Studies. Prepare T&S BoM and MTO etc.
- Engineering support for designers developing T&S Block Diagrams & Architectures Cable Routings Control Room Layouts Equipment Room Layouts T&S Field Equipment Location Drawings etc.
- Close liaison with I&A discipline.
- Close liaison with ICT Telecommunications & Company Security Division.
- Attend reviews (e.g. Plot Plan Review 3D Model Review CCTV & PA/GA Coverage Studies etc.).
- Carry out Technical Bid Evaluations.
- Attend and carry out T&S system FATs Inspections and SATs.
- Effectively communicate and liaise with other engineering disciplines.
- Input into other discipline documents such as Electrical Loads Heat Dissipation Weight calculations Plot Plans etc.
- Undertake short-term visits to operating sites and Company regional offices worldwide to support project activities.
- Assist with manhour estimates and planning activities associated with proposals and budgets.
- Keep abreast of new legislation and industry standards related to plant design and performance with opportunities for continuous learning and professional development.
- Liaise with telecoms & security system suppliers.
- Contribute to the design of T&S systems and equipment in accordance with project and regulatory requirements receiving coaching where needed to build competency.
- Ensure a high standard of safety is maintained and Environmental and Quality Assurance processes are followed.
- Monitor and adhere to Project budgets maintaining a close relationship with the Project Engineering Manager and Chief Engineer Instrumentation & Automation.
Knowledge and Experience
- Proven knowledge of the main T&S requirements in conventional (oil and gas) carbon capture and renewable energy sectors.
- Experience of onshore and offshore projects.
- Experience in performing FATs.
- Experience in SAT and commissioning activities would be advantageous.
- Experience in producing the T&S documents.
- Experience of T&S system engineering for large industrial facilities either in operations maintenance or design would be advantageous for this position.
- Strong communication planning and organisational skills.
- Experience of leading teams on large and small Projects.

- Wide Area Networks (including terrestrial LOS Microwave & Satellite links).

- Hotline Telephone Systems.
- UHF Plant Mobile Radio Systems.
- VHF Marine Radio Systems.
- VHF Aeronautical Radio Systems.

- Cybersecurity Protocols for ICT.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Professional accreditation preferred.
