Summary
- This is a 10-month contract opportunity with a local authority offering a rate of 49.86 per hour under an umbrella arrangement. The role involves delivering high-quality cost-effective legal advice and representation to the Council focusing on Employment and Education Law. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior and Principal Lawyers to provide legal services that align with legislative requirements uphold professional standards and support the Councils objectives.
Responsibilities
- Offer expert legal counsel on Employment and Education Law to various Council departments and senior stakeholders.
- Handle a diverse caseload including intricate matters related to employment and education law.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings witness statements agreements reports and correspondence.
- Represent the Council in Employment Tribunals Courts Inquiries Hearings and other legal proceedings.
- Provide guidance on legislative changes case law developments and new legal issues impacting the Council.
- Conduct legal research and propose practical solutions to enhance service delivery.
Requirements:
- Post-qualification experience as a Solicitor Barrister or CILEX Lawyer specializing in Employment and Education Law.
- Proven experience in advocacy case preparation and delivering legal advice.
- Ability to manage a legal caseload effectively.
- Experience in local government is preferred.
- Must be a qualified Solicitor Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with a current practising certificate if applicable.
- Membership with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is required.
Additional Information
- Working hours are 32 hours per week.
- Location: London Road Basingstoke Hampshire RG21 4AH United Kingdom.
- Work schedule: Hours to be distributed over 4 or 5 days ideally with 2 days in the office and the remainder remote.
- Payments are processed bi-weekly.
