An established civil engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join their drainage-focused team on a home-based basis with just one day per month required in the York office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineer to take on a senior technically led role while enjoying the flexibility of working from home the majority of the time. The successful candidate will lead on drainage design across a variety of projects providing technical direction mentoring junior engineers and liaising directly with clients and stakeholders. There is also genuine scope to manage and grow the wider team as the business develops.

What theyre looking for:

Strong background in drainage engineering with hands-on experience across the following agreements and submissions: S38 S278 TRO VCO S106 S104 S185 S98 SN18 S102 and AIP technical submissions.

Technical expertise should also include road highway external works and pavement design vehicle tracking SuDS maintenance and management plans SuDS verification reports and signing and lining.

Candidates should be experienced in flood risk assessment and drainage strategy combined foul and surface water drainage design and SuDS along with design risk assessment and project due diligence. Experience on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects would be advantageous.

• Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant institution
• Proven experience leading and growing a team with strong mentoring skills
• Confidence working independently in a home-based role
• Excellent communication skills for client-facing responsibilities
