About this role
TheAladdin Financial Engineering(AFE)teamis responsible forthe research and development of financial models underpinning the risk management analytics produced at BlackRock.The group also contributes to the infrastructure and software responsiblefor the production ofanalytics and the delivery of analytic content to portfolio and risk management professionals both within and outside BlackRock.
Given the diversity of businessobjectivesamongAladdinclients and within BlackRock itself the models developed and supported span a wide array of financial products ranging from equity to fixed incomeand alternatives.In addition membersseekto provide analysis and insight on manydifferent levelsfrom analysis ofsingle name securitiesto the overall financial risk associated with an entire portfolio.
TheModelling Researchteam inAFEis looking for aportfolioriskmodelerto join theLondon teamto contribute tothe modelling anddevelopment effortinbuilding andmaintainingofAladdinrisk models.These models are used to provide risk oversight on BlackRock investment strategies and Aladdinclients andalso beingdeployedfor use inportfolio constructionpurposes.Thismodeler will work onequity riskmodels.
This role also offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the teams AIeffortssuch asapplying AI and automation to modernize and scalecurrentworkflows.
About the role
The candidate will beperforming duties related toall aspects ofportfoliorisk modeldevelopment:
Researching designing and back-testing new risk models usingPythoninfrastructure
Collaborating withsoftwaredeveloperstotest and release new models into production
Supporting existing risk models in production
Maintaining and extending research framework
Investigatingand resolving client queries relatingto modelmethodologyand functionality
Developingand enhancingtesting validation back-testing and quality-control frameworks
Contributing to the teams AI efforts
About you
Graduatedegreein a technical field(Econometrics Finance Maths Statistics ComputerScienceand/or Engineering);Postgraduate degreein a technical fieldis a plus
2 years relevant working experienceor PhD
Strong programming skills and experience using Python;Knowledgein Unix/Linux Gitis a plus
Strong knowledge of financialmathematicaland statistical theory
Strong interest in financial market
Strong oral and written (English language) communication skills that enable complex ideas to be readily understood by team members and clients
Enthusiasmflexibilityand maturity to adapt to the needs of a dynamic group anddeliver withinstricttimeframe;Good timemanagement skillsincluding the ability to handle multiple projects
Interest inportfoliorisk modelling
Strongproblem-solving skills with high attention to detail
