The school is looking to appoint a committed Pastoral Support Officer to join its student-support team.
The successful candidate will provide direct pastoral support to students and work closely with Heads of Year tutors teachers safeguarding staff and senior leaders.
You will help students overcome barriers that may affect their attendance behaviour engagement or progress.
The role requires someone who can build positive relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
Provide day-to-day pastoral support to students.
Build positive professional relationships with pupils.
Identify students requiring additional support.
Monitor attendance and engagement concerns.
Support students experiencing difficulties at school.
Provide appropriate one-to-one support.
Help students develop confidence and resilience.
Work closely with Heads of Year.
Support pastoral intervention programmes.
Maintain accurate records of support provided.
Communicate relevant concerns to appropriate staff.
Liaise professionally with parents and carers.
Support attendance improvement strategies.
Assist with behaviour interventions.
Support restorative conversations.
Help students return successfully following absence.
Work with safeguarding staff where concerns arise.
Attend student-support meetings.
Monitor individual intervention plans.
Promote positive behaviour and engagement.
Support student wellbeing initiatives.
Maintain confidentiality.
Follow safeguarding procedures.
Contribute to an inclusive school environment.
Support the wider pastoral team as required.
The successful candidate will have experience working with young people and a genuine interest in pastoral support.
Previous experience within a school college youth service childrens services or another relevant environment would be advantageous.
You should be approachable and confident communicating with students while maintaining professional boundaries.
You will need to remain calm and consistent when dealing with challenging situations.
Strong organisation is also important because the role involves maintaining records and managing several student-support responsibilities.
Previous experience working with young people.
Pastoral welfare behaviour or student-support experience is desirable.
