Job Summary
Position Title: Part-Time Cleaner
School: York Steiner School
Reports To: Operations Officer
Working Hours: average 8 hours per week (flexible working arrangements can be mutually agreed)
Contract Type: All Year Round
Pay Rate: 12.71/hour
Start Date: Immediate
To provide a high standard of cleaning and hygiene services throughout the school premises. The role is vital in ensuring a clean safe healthy and welcoming environment for students staff and visitors.
Daily Cleaning Routine:
Sweep mop vacuum across classrooms corridors offices and assembly halls.
Dust wipe down and polish surfaces desks tables windowsills and fixtures.
Washroom & Hygiene Maintenance:
Thoroughly clean and disinfect washrooms toilets sinks and sanitary fittings.
Replenish essential supplies including soap hand towels and toilet paper.
Waste & Litter Management:
Empty rubbish bins and recycling units daily disposing of waste in designated external collection areas.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Adhere to Health & Safety policies COSHH regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and safe working practices at all times.
Ensure correct and safe storage of all cleaning chemicals tools and equipment.
Promptly report any maintenance issues hazards damaged fixtures or safety concerns to the Operations Officer.
Periodic Deep Cleaning:
Participate in deep cleaning / light decorating activities during school holiday periods.
Experience: Previous cleaning experience in a school commercial or institutional environment is preferred but full training will be provided.
Knowledge: Basic understanding of Health & Safety standards and chemical safety (COSHH) is desirable. Training will be provided.
Skills & Attributes:
Punctual dependable and self-motivated with high standards of cleanliness.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team.
Good communication skills and a polite approachable manner.
Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical tasks (bending lifting stretching and standing for the duration of the shift).
