Outreach Support Officer TAFF200

We are looking for a caring compassionate and motivated person to join our team and walk alongside young people as they take positive steps towards independence. This post is for an Outreach Support Officer working with residents who have moved into our shared house or into their own tenancies. The purpose of the role is to support young people aged 16 to 21 as they move into independent accommodation and to continue supporting them after move-on so they can sustain their tenancy and build a positive future. You will provide person-centred support in their own homes using creative and engaging approaches to help young people recognise their strengths achieve their goals and aspirations and develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive.

By building positive relationships and taking a work with approach youll help residents achieve their goals and take those next steps towards independence. The role can be challenging. At Taff we work in a psychologically informed way and aim to build resilience in trauma-affected people which can bring up challenging emotions for those we support and for our staff. What youll do

To provide tailored outreach support to residents moving on from Ty Seren hostel into their own accommodation for up to 12 months. To provide tailored support to residents of Ty Haul hostel preparing for move-on and to support them thereafter for up to 12 months. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents within a psychologically informed environment. To plan and implement a programme of tenant participation promoting independence and wellbeing.

What youll bring to the role...

• Understanding of working with young people with support needs
• Good working knowledge of benefits and homelessness services
• Ability to run workshops / sessions and to support residents to achieve their goals and aspirations
• A good understanding of safeguarding and risk management
• A good understanding of budgeting and debt management
• Ability to drive and access to own transport
• Good administrative and IT skills
