Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

Our client is a well-established European manufacturer of specialty polymer and plastics additives supplying innovative solutions to international customers across industries such as technical textiles filtration and industrial coatings. Theyre looking for a Maintenance Technician to join their site as the sole engineer responsible for keeping the plant running safely and reliably.

This is a hands-on highly autonomous role suited to a proactive multi-skilled engineer whos comfortable owning both planned and reactive maintenance across a manufacturing site with real scope to drive improvements in reliability and safety.

Day to day youll:

• Take overall ownership of site maintenance performance equipment availability and reliability
• Deliver and manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
• Diagnose fault-find and repair mechanical and electrical faults including pumps bearings gearboxes motors and control panels
• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
• Install modify and commission machinery and equipment as required
• Work closely with production teams to plan maintenance around operational needs
• Maintain accurate maintenance records logs and KPI data
• Manage contractor activity including permits to work site inductions and compliance
• Control inspection servicing and calibration schedules in line with statutory requirements
• Identify and recommend equipment or process improvements
• Ensure all work is carried out in line with safe working practices supporting wider health safety and environmental compliance

Essential:

• Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
• Comfortable working independently as the sole maintenance technician on-site
• A recognised engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering or Multi-Skilled Engineering)
• Good organisational communication and time-management skills
• A strong understanding of health and safety in an industrial setting

Desirable:

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and automation systems
• Experience managing PPM schedules and KPI metrics
• Previous experience supervising or coordinating external contractors
