What is the role

Make a real impact every day as a Maintenance Person at Hafod.

Youll play an important role in ensuring our care home remains safe well maintained and welcoming for residents visitors and colleagues

Were looking for a practical reliable and proactive individual who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in maintaining high standards. Youll carry out a range of maintenance repair and decorating tasks helping to create an environment where residents feel comfortable and supported.

No two days are the same. From minor plumbing and carpentry repairs to painting decorating and liaising with contractors youll be part of a team that helps keep our home running smoothly.

We provide supportive teams ongoing training and opportunities to develop your skills within a values-led organisation.

Please note: Were unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. This is a permanent 36 hours full time opportunity.

Some of our homes may have limited public transport links and some shifts start early or finish late. Youll therefore need reliable transport to and from work.

What youll be doing

  • Carry out a range of maintenance and repair tasks including painting and decorating carpentry minor plumbing masonry repairs guttering fencing window and path cleaning and general upkeep of the home.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety legislation policies and procedures.
  • Complete dynamic risk assessments and take appropriate steps to protect residents colleagues and visitors while work is being carried out.
  • Raise and monitor repair requests using internal systems and work closely with external contractors where required.
  • Support the Home Manager with maintenance-related activities collection of equipment and other reasonable errands.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in a safe working condition and report defects promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance colleagues across neighbouring Hafod care homes when required.

What youll bring

  • Practical maintenance experience with knowledge of several trade areas such as carpentry plumbing painting and decorating.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work independently and solve practical problems effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with residents colleagues and contractors.
  • A professional reliable and customer-focused approach.
  • Empathy and understanding when working within a care home environment.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

An NVQ or equivalent qualification in a maintenance-related discipline is desirable but not essential.
