Junior Manufacturing Engineer

ALTEN is looking for a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to support an exciting aerospace manufacturing programme.

This is a hands-on shop-floor focused position where you will work closely with production teams and operators providing day-to-day engineering support and helping to resolve technical and manufacturing queries.

A key part of the role will also involve supporting and training shop-floor employees in the use of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) helping ensure manufacturing processes and digital work instructions are followed correctly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day engineering support on the manufacturing shop floor.
• Respond to and help resolve technical queries from production teams.
• Support manufacturing activities and investigate production issues.
• Provide guidance to operators on engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Support and train shop-floor employees in the effective use of the MES platform.
• Help ensure manufacturing information and digital work instructions are correctly understood and followed.
• Work closely with Manufacturing Production Quality and Engineering teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes and ways of working.
• Escalate more complex technical issues to the appropriate engineering teams.
• Support continuous improvement activities across the production environment.

Qualifications :

Required Skills:

• Experience working within a manufacturing production or shop-floor environment.
• Good understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
• Comfortable providing hands-on support to shop-floor operators.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand and communicate technical information and work instructions.
• Comfortable using digital manufacturing systems and learning new software.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience within aerospace manufacturing.
• Exposure to MES / Manufacturing Execution Systems.
• Experience supporting or training production operators.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement.
• Experience dealing with manufacturing technical queries.
