The Role
Join our Computing Division Project Management Group and play a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of IT projects that support our mission to develop fusion energy. Our projects cover IT infrastructure digital services cyber security and advanced computing driving innovation and enabling critical research across the organisation.
As a Project Manager youll lead projects from planning through to delivery ensuring they are completed on time within budget and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders youll provide effective project governance manage risks and ensure successful outcomes that deliver real business value.
Additional Responsibilities:
Lead the successful delivery of IT projects ensuring they are completed on time within budget and to the required quality standards.
Manage all aspects of project delivery including planning risk and issue management budgets (up to c. 5m) supplier contracts resources and change control.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders providing clear communication effective governance regular reporting and ensuring project benefits are realised.
Develop and maintain project documentation ensuring compliance with quality assurance processes and supporting effective project planning and decision-making.
Drive continuous improvement and safe delivery applying systems thinking solving complex challenges and promoting a strong health safety and quality culture
Qualifications :
Essential Requirements:
Degree in IT Computing Research or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) with a proven track record of delivering complex IT or R&D projects on time within budget and to quality standards.
Project management qualification(s) to Practitioner level.
Strong project and commercial management skills including financial management of multi-million-pound budgets and the ability to make sound decisions that maximise project value.
Excellent communication influencing and stakeholder management skills with experience of leading developing and motivating high-performing teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel PowerPoint and SharePoint) with a passion for project management best practice a proactive approach to health and safety and a good understanding of UK compliance requirements.

Good background knowledge and understanding of fusion
Experience of varied project management methodologies e.g. waterfall Agile
Understanding/experience of IT Supplier contracts / Collaboration agreements
Experience of purchasing systems and procurement processes
Understanding/experience of CDM regulations (Construction Design and Management Regulations)
