What youll be doing
As the Interim Head of Finance Technical Accounting & Projects you will play a pivotal role in enhancing accounting quality and navigating the complexities of financial reporting under IFRS and US GAAP. You will support the Financial Controller in providing technical accounting oversight and advice to various stakeholders across the Boots business ensuring that accounting decisions are well-informed and aligned with business objectives. This role offers significant exposure to key business plans and projects making a real impact on the financial landscape.

Key responsibilities
Lead and support the Companys technical accounting processes including impairment reviews and leases.
Provide technical accounting review and direction for business transactions such as acquisitions and new ventures.
Enhance reporting capabilities in the new SAP S/4 HANA system focusing on US GAAP and IFRS reporting.
Collaborate with finance tax and business stakeholders to ensure compliance with accounting policies.
Support the implementation of new accounting standards within the business.
Assist in the monthly quarterly and annual close and reporting processes.
Mentor the Finance Manager Technical Accounting fostering a high-performing finance team.
Deputise for the Head of Finance Group reporting during audits and accounts preparation.

What youll need to have (our must-haves)
Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with 8 years post-qualification experience.
Strong technical accounting skills with a solid understanding of both US GAAP and IFRS.
Excellent communication skills to convey complex accounting concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Resilience and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
Strong team player with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

It would be great if you also have
Experience in pensions accounting under IFRS and US GAAP.
Knowledge of impairment reviews and modelling for fixed and intangible assets.
Familiarity with lease accounting standards.
Experience in group reporting and consolidation processes.
