Duties and Responsibilities

The role includes but is not limited to the following: -

Reporting to Fire Life & Safety Manager for all VIRTUS Data Centres and supporting infrastructures. Have a good understanding of the following Fire systems & Components: (Fire Panels Vesda Water Mist Gas Suppression Fire Extinguishers Emergency Lighting Fire Doors Fire Stopping.

Have a basic understanding of the Following Fire Standards/Codes/Compliance (BS5839-1 BS6266 NFPA 75 Document B Regulatory Reform 0rder 2005)

Must have experience with the following Microsoft tools (Word Excel PowerPoint) Must be able to communicate clear and concise instructions either verbal or written to Peers & Stakeholders.

Must be able to travel to site Monday to Friday between working hours.

Review and comment on Fire Life & Safety Design proposals. Record and produce monthly KPIs as set by the Line Manager or the engineering director via a reporting dashboard or alternative agreed portal.

Manage the inspection configuration test schedules performance indicators and any other defined reporting KPIs provided by Line Manager or the Engineering Director.

Provide 2nd 3rd level escalation for Fire & Life Safety issues.

Provide SOP/EOP development including sign off any Fire & Life Safety SOP/EOP drafts as required.

Assist with the commissioning of existing upgrades and supporting Fire & Life Safety & Electrical Mechanical elements where required and/or support Virtus with general commissioning activities as directed by the Line Manager or the Engineering Director Continually optimise Fire & Life Safety systems to provide high levels of reliability.

Provide mitigation to remove (where possible) majority of Human Error aspects from all Fire & Life Safety operations whether it be a physical optimisation to equipment robust technical training or clear procedure documentation.

Provide technical input on all Fire & Life Safety works and projects.

Optimise maintenance offerings to ensure all manufacturers and best practises are followed.

Ensure technical excellence on all Fire & Life Safety systems and ensure all engineering best practices are being followed.

Attend and witness Fire & Life Safety FAT Acceptance Tests (FAT/ 1st of a kind) for New Build items where required.

Collaborate with the Projects Department on facility Integrated Systems Testing (IST). Input into commissioning test scripts for Fire & Life Safety elements for FATs SATS and IST.

Take ownership & Provide input of any key Fire & Life Safety issues and push progression and as part of this ensure VIRTUS systems are updated.

Assist the Technical Team to ensure compliance with ISO Security Fire and Health & Safety related policies and procedures.

Assist with Health & Safety compliance.

Manage and if needed lead survey tests and reports on existing Fire & Life Safety installations.

Undertake projects of an engineering nature under the direction of the Line Manager or Principal Engineer and Engineering subject matter specialists.

Understand in a great depth and increase knowledge of Data Centre Building services systems and components operation by involvement with manufacturing construction installation and operational testing of building service equipment to confirm that it meets functional specifications and customer requirements.

Any other duties relevant to the position and the running of the company and any other reasonable requests made by your line manager.

The successful applicant must be willing to undergo a BS7858 screening process.
