Financial Controller

The financial controller assist the Finance Director in the management control and reporting of the groups finances and finance function ensuring accurate and timely reporting and compliance with internal and external requirements. 

The role supports budgeting and forecasting provides financial information and challenge across the business and contributes to the development of the team and improvement of financial processes

Main Tasks:

• Day to day oversight of the financial control and reporting activities of the Finance Department including managing and supporting team members.
• Coordinate the preparation of the quarterly reports and assist the Finance Director in preparing financial information for the Board.
• Prepare forecasts of the companys performance and monitor actual performance against these forecasts.
• Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget and associated financial reporting.
• Review and monitor the preparation of statutory accounts for the other UK subsidiaries
• Collaborate with the companys external auditors to ensure an effective year-end audit process.
• Support VAT return preparation and assist the Tax Manager with corporation tax information.
• Maintain effective internal financial controls and ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
• Review foreign exchange cash flow calculations and liase with Group Treasury on hedge requirements as needed.
• Provide guidance support and training to the finance team.

Qualifications :

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Essential 

• Hold a relevant professional qualification (i.e. ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Previous experience in Financial Controller or Finance Manager role with responsibility for financial control and reporting.
• Experience of managing and developing staff
• Experience of working to strict reporting deadlines
• Strong experience of preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and coordinating the external audit process
• Sound knowledge of management reporting budgeting and forecasting
• Knowledge of taxes (including corporation tax and VAT)
• Understanding of treasury / hedging concepts and FX risk
• Experience of maintaining effective internal financial controls
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to review and challenge financial information
• Strong Excel skills and ideally previous experience of an ERP accounting system
• Experience of multi-company project based or internationally owned group would be advantageous

• Your team: Reporting to the Finance Director in the Finance Business Unit
• Where you will work: You will be working at the Westminster House in Fareham Hampshire UK. Whilst the role is based in Fareham we offer up to 2 days a week hybrid working.
• Full/part-time job: The position of Financial Controller is a full-time job - 37.5 hours a week.
• Permanent/Fixed Term: This is a permanent position.
