Where youll be working

Here in the Finance function we make sure we spend our customers money wisely to maximum their benefit. As a function we are made up of diverse individuals skills and capabilities that enable us to provide financial partnering services produce statutory and regulatory reporting raise wholesale funds & maintain liquidity.We provide lending for social housing create and deliver a financial plan manage stress testing requirements provide and maintain financial systems & technology and drive the development of our Society Strategy.

Location

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems to learn and to feel connected.

For this job youll spend at least two days per week based at our Swindon or London offices.

What youll be doing on the Treasury Industrial Placement

On the Treasury pathway youll gain hands-on experience in teams that help keep Nationwide financially safe secure and sustainable.

Treasury plays a vital role in ensuring Nationwide has the funding liquidity and resilience needed to support our customers and members both today and in the future. Youll gain insight into how a major financial institution manages risk plans for uncertainty and makes important financial decisions.

During your placement you could work with teams responsible for:

• Balance Sheet Risk Reporting & Forecasting

• Balance Sheet Frameworks Modelling & Strategy

• Recovery Resolution & Financial Resilience

• Cash Management Settlements & Treasury Operations

Throughout the placement youll develop practical skills in financial analysis data interpretation problem solving and stakeholder collaboration while gaining exposure to how Treasury supports decision-making across the Society.

Depending on your placement area you could help analyse financial risks support forecasting and reporting activities contribute to resilience planning assist with liquidity and funding processes or work on projects that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Treasury operations.

Youll also gain valuable insight into how Nationwide prepares for changing economic conditions manages financial risk and maintains the resilience needed to support millions of customers and members.

This isnt a placement spent watching from the sidelines. From day one youll contribute to meaningful work while receiving the support needed to learn and grow.

Your placement begins with induction development support and structured learning designed to help you settle in build confidence and understand the role youll be performing. Youll also gain access to a bespoke 12-month project aligned to our Social Impact strategy providing opportunities to develop core business skills while working alongside other Industrial Placement students from across the organisation.

Throughout the placement youll gain hands-on experience while following a personalised learning pathway tailored to your role. Mentoring development sessions and support from experienced colleagues will help you continue building your skills confidence and professional network.

Successful completion of the placement may help shape future career choices and could provide a route into our Finance & Commercial Insight Development Programmes.

Eligibility: You must be studying towards an undergraduate degree in any discipline.
