As our Finance Assistant youll play a vital role in supporting the Finance Team ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. Your work will help provide the financial information needed to support decision-making across the hospice while ensuring suppliers are paid on time and income is received and recorded correctly. Location: St Peter & St James Hospice North Common Road North Chailey BN8 4ED
Salary: 24633 - 27142 pro rata (30791 - 33928 full-time equivalent)
Hours: 30hours per week Monday - Friday (4 days a week possibility of hybrid working)
Contract: Permanent Part-time

What youll be doing
- Manage the purchase ledger ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and authorised appropriately.
- Prepare payment runs for approval and upload payments to the bank.
- Enter sales invoices and maintain accurate financial records.
- Process incoming payments and allocate receipts correctly.
- Perform bank credit card and control account reconciliations.
- Respond professionally to finance-related queries from colleagues and external organisations.
- Support the preparation of information required for the year-end audit process.
- Assist the Finance Manager and Finance Director with ad hoc finance projects and administrative tasks.
- Help ensure the finance function operates efficiently and meets all statutory and organisational requirements.
What were looking for
- Experience in bookkeeping and financial administration.
- High levels of IT literacy with excellent Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work well within a team.
- Enthusiasm for learning new skills systems and processes.
Desirable
- AAT qualification or other accountancy qualification.
- Experience using QuickBooks Online.
- Experience preparing payroll reports.
