Facilities Manager Secondary School

A well-established and highly regarded secondary school in Hammersmith is seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the effective day-to-day management of its buildings facilities and site operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced facilities professional with a strong background in secondary school environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe secure and well-functioning school site ensuring the buildings and facilities effectively support students staff and the wider school community.

Previous experience working in a secondary school or similar educational setting is essential for this role.

The Opportunity

As Facilities Manager you will:

• Oversee the day-to-day management maintenance and security of the secondary school site.

• Manage planned and reactive maintenance across buildings grounds and facilities.

• Coordinate contractors suppliers and external service providers.

• Monitor health and safety statutory compliance inspections and maintenance schedules.

• Carry out regular site inspections and ensure issues are identified and addressed promptly.

• Maintain accurate records of servicing repairs inspections and compliance requirements.

• Support fire safety emergency procedures risk assessments and site security.

• Manage facilities-related budgets procurement and expenditure where required.

• Support school events examinations building projects and refurbishment programmes.

• Work closely with the Headteacher Senior Leadership Team and school staff to ensure the site meets the needs of students and staff.

• Lead and support site caretaking and facilities staff where applicable.

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Have proven Facilities Premises Estates or Site Management experience within a secondary school.

• Have strong knowledge of school health and safety safeguarding site security and statutory compliance.

• Have experience managing contractors suppliers and maintenance programmes within an educational environment.

• Understand the operational requirements of a busy secondary school site.

• Be confident managing both planned and reactive maintenance.

• Demonstrate excellent organisational communication and problem-solving skills.

• Have experience maintaining accurate facilities compliance and maintenance records.

• Be able to prioritise competing demands and respond effectively to urgent site issues.

• Take a proactive and hands-on approach to maintaining high standards across the school.

• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Previous experience working within a secondary school is an essential requirement and candidates without relevant school-based facilities or premises experience may not be considered.
