Full-Time Permanent Event Chef (Sous Level) York Area

Chefs Bay Hospitality are recruiting for an experienced Event Chef at Sous Chef level to join a high-profile hospitality operation in the York area.

Salary: 40000 per annum with potential for more for the right candidate

This is a fantastic permanent opportunity for a hands-on culinary professional with a passion for events hospitality and high-quality food.

The Role

Working closely with the Head Chef and Senior Management team you will play a key role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences across hospitality banqueting retail and conference & events.

You will lead and support kitchen teams ensuring excellent food quality presentation and service while maintaining strong operational and commercial standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting menu development reviews tastings and bespoke client requirements.
  • Leading food production and supervising kitchen teams across hospitality banqueting and events.
  • Ensuring consistently high standards of food quality presentation and service.
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of kitchen operations.
  • Managing stock portion control and waste to support GP and cost targets.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety allergen health & safety and relevant legislation.
  • Acting as Deputy to the Head Chef when required.
  • Training coaching and developing junior chefs and kitchen team members.
  • Bringing fresh ideas and keeping up to date with culinary trends and industry best practice.
About You

Were looking for a confident hands-on chef operating at Sous Chef level ideally with experience within events hospitality banqueting or a similar fast-paced environment.

Youll ideally have:

  • Strong culinary knowledge and a passion for quality food.
  • Experience leading kitchen teams and delivering large-scale food operations.
  • Knowledge of menu development presentation and current food trends.
  • A strong understanding of margins stock control and cost management.
  • Excellent leadership communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive customer-focused approach.
  • Confidence using IT systems including Microsoft Excel.
Salary & Location
