Description
This role is within the Workforce Development Team at Cornwall Fire & Rescue
The Role:

As an Emergency Response Driving Instructor you will:

  • Deliver emergency response driving training and assessments to operational personnel.
  • Instruct and coach drivers in accordance with relevant legislation national guidance and Service policies.
  • Assess competence and provide constructive feedback to support continuous development.
  • Maintain accurate training records and reports.
  • Support the development and review of driver training programmes.
  • Promote safe economical and defensive driving practices.
  • Ensure all training activities are delivered to the highest standards of health safety and professionalism.
  • Work closely with operational and support teams across Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service.

This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:
The role is 37 hours 5 days a week.

What youll need to succeed:
We are looking for an individual who has
  • Strong coaching mentoring and communication skills.
  • A recognised Emergency Response Driving Instructor qualification or the ability to achieve this within an agreed time frame.
  • Experience delivering practical training and assessments.
  • Excellent knowledge of road traffic legislation and emergency response driving standards.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and inspire learner confidence.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to equality diversity and inclusion.
