Canada Life is seeking a Director Strategy to join the Workplace Benefits and Retirement (WBR) division. This team operates at the center of the group benefits business advising senior leaders on complex high-impact strategic issues.
As a Director you will support enterprise and business unit strategic planning lead initiatives that drive growth and advance key business priorities. You will work closely with partners across functions to shape align and execute initiatives that strengthen the divisions market position and drive innovation.
This role reports to the AVP Strategy within Canada Lifes Workplace Benefits and Retirement division.
- Lead strategic initiatives
- Lead high-impact strategic initiatives across Canada Lifes WBR business
- Apply structured approaches and analytics to generate clear actionable recommendations Shape strategic direction and contribute to setting the teams intellectual agenda
- Develop and deliver compelling presentations business cases and communicationsDrive growth and go-to-market strategy
- Support the development and execution of go-to-market strategies for new and existing initiativesConduct market assessments and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for growth including new products capabilities and segmentsPartner with senior leaders and peers to design refine and implement initiatives
- Build team capability and culture
- Contribute to and foster a high performing collaborative and inclusive team environmentCoach and mentor junior team members to support their development
- Share knowledge and best practices across the team and organization
- 610 years of experience in strategy consulting corporate strategy or a related field
- Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives from problem definition through executionStrong problem-solving and analytical skills with experience translating data into clear actionable

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience preparing materials for and engaging senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in financial services group benefits retirement or a related industry
- Track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment on strategic decisionsExperience developing go-to-market strategies and supporting execution of growth initiatives
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. Business Finance Economics Engineering); advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is an asset

The base salary for this position is between $114200 - $164200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus commission etc).
