As a Communications Apprentice youll gain hands-on experience across a range of communications disciplines while working towards a nationally recognised qualification in Digital Content Design.

Youll support meaningful projects that help us connect with colleagues customers and communities across south Wales developing valuable skills in content creation digital communications social media design and engagement.

Please note: Were unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. This is a 24 months full time (37.5 hrs) programme that will begin in January 2027.

What youll learn and how well support you :

• Youll work towards a nationally recognised Agored Cymru Level 3 Diploma in Digital Content Design with one of our trusted apprenticeship training partners.
• Youll gain practical experience across a variety of communications functions including internal and external communications media and PR digital communications and content creation.
• Youll learn through hands-on experience while working alongside supportive and experienced communications professionals.
• Youll benefit from coaching mentoring and regular development conversations to support your growth and career aspirations.
• Youll take part in our Early Talent Development Programme joining a network of apprentices and colleagues across Hafod.

This role involves regular travel across our sites and services. While a driving licence isnt essential many of our locations are not easily reached by public transport so being able to drive and use your own vehicle is often the most practical way to travel.

If you use your own vehicle for work youll need appropriate insurance (for example business use).

If you dont hold a licence or dont have access to a vehicle wed still encourage you to apply. Were happy to have a conversation with you about how you could still meet the travel requirements of the role.

What youll be doing

• Supporting the planning and delivery of internal and external communications campaigns.
• Supporting website content updates and digital communications activities.
• Helping create digital content including graphics video and photography using approved templates and design tools.
• Supporting communication projects through research content gathering and administrative tasks.
• Acting as an ambassador for apprenticeships and supporting careers events engagement activities and campaigns.

You dont need previous professional communications experience. What matters most is your attitude willingness to learn and creativity.

• Have a genuine interest in building a career in communications digital content or marketing.
• Have good IT skills including Microsoft Office such as Word Excel and Outlook.
• Value working as part of a team and understand that supporting colleagues is just as important as supporting customers.
• Bring a respectful caring approach and recognise the difference small actions can make.
• Communicate well with a willingness to listen ask questions share ideas and build positive relationships.
• Take pride in doing things well and show a dependable responsible attitude to both work and learning

These strengths can come from education work volunteering hobbies personal projects or other life experiences.

Who can apply

If youre thinking about applying here are a few things to help you decide if this apprenticeship is right for you.

• Youre aged 16 or over. Some apprenticeships may have a higher minimum age where this is needed for safety or service reasons.
• You have a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths (A* -C)
• Youre not studying towards another qualification when the apprenticeship begins as this programme requires strong commitment to both work and learning.
• You do not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in the same subject area as this apprenticeship.
• You can start the apprenticeship in January 2027
