We are seeking to appoint a reliable practical and hardworking School Caretaker on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Middlesbrough. The school prides itself on maintaining a safe clean and warm learning environment for its pupils and staff. Joining a dedicated site team you will play an essential role in the daily operations safety and security of the entire school estate.

• Act as the primary keyholder managing the secure opening and closing of the school buildings and grounds.

• Carry out routine building maintenance minor plumbing joinery tasks and general DIY repairs across the site.

• Monitor operate and log checks on school heating lighting and security systems.

• Oversee health and safety compliance including regular fire alarm testing water hygiene checks and maintaining clear emergency exits.

• Manage external contractors on-site and assist with cleaning duties litter picking gritting in winter and heavy lifting/moving of furniture.

• Proven experience in caretaking site management facilities or a skilled trade (plumbing carpentry electrical or general building maintenance).

• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and COSHH guidelines.

• Ability to work independently use initiative and manage a varied daily workload.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with a polite and helpful manner when interacting with school staff visitors and contractors.

• An Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

• A clean UK driving licence is advantageous.
