We are seeking a practical and dependable School Caretaker to join a school in Newbury. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day maintenance security and presentation of the school site.

The role is varied and would suit someone who enjoys practical work takes pride in their surroundings and can respond effectively to routine and unexpected maintenance requirements.

• Open and close the school site in accordance with security procedures.

• Carry out daily inspections of buildings and grounds.

• Complete minor repairs and general maintenance.

• Monitor heating lighting alarms and other site systems.

• Maintain outdoor areas and assist with seasonal grounds work.

• Support fire safety and health and safety checks.

• Liaise with contractors attending the site.

• Move furniture equipment and deliveries as required.

• Report significant defects and maintenance issues.

• Maintain accurate records of completed checks and repairs.

• Previous caretaking maintenance facilities or practical trade experience.

• Good knowledge of basic building maintenance.

• Understanding of workplace health and safety.

• Reliable and responsible approach to site security.

• Ability to work independently.

• Good communication and organisational skills.

• An enhanced background check will be required.
