Job Summary

An opportunity has become available to join our team of emotional wellbeing specialists at National Star College in Worcester working 24 hours a week term time only over 3 days (ideally Tuesday Thursday). This is an exciting time to join us as we are expanding our specialist service supporting students with complex learning difficulties autism and disabilities supporting independence wellbeing and future National Star we recognise that there are a range of factors outside of education that can have an impact on a learners life at college. National Stars Emotional Wellbeing Service promotes good mental health and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) supporting learners in getting the most from their social educational and life skills role of the Behaviour Support Practitioner focuses on working with learners who present with emotional wellbeing support needs or distressed behaviour supporting them in managing this through a variety of evidence-based interventions with the ultimate aim of improving their quality of sound background in working with young people and adults with a learning disability and/or mental health condition and a good understanding for the functional analysis of behaviours and the consequent development of behaviour support plans you will be working alongside support teams to develop their skills in delivering pro-active person-centred approaches to working together with -disciplinary working is essential as you will be working collaboratively with other health professionals including Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists delivering evidence-based interventions that are based on the holistic understanding of the learners needs. Part of your role will see you providing professional advice training and information to colleagues families and role will require someone who is patient caring and compassionate with excellent observational skills. You will not be fazed when asked to manage emotionally challenging situations drawing upon your creativity and problem-solving skills. You will be expected to work autonomously managing your own caseload.A postgraduate qualification in Positive Behaviour Support or willingness to undertake this training or qualification in psychology or a related discipline such as psychotherapeutic approach (e.g. Person-Centred Counselling) is preferred to demonstrate a sound knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support practices and an informal discussion regarding this role please call our recruitment team on or visit our website for more information including more about our Emotional Wellbeing Team.
