My client is a creative technology business building a platform for marketing and brand teams being used by some of the worlds leading names in entertainment communications and hospitality.

The platform helps organisations manage all of their brand assets in one place and measure their performance. It is used by teams who need better control visibility and collaboration across creative work particularly where multiple stakeholders locations or campaign assets are involved.

The business is small product-led and close-knit with direct access to founder product and customer conversations. This is not a role where you will sit in a large engineering function working through isolated tickets. The person joining will have visible impact on the product the customer experience and the technical direction of the platform.

Now entering an important stage of growth there is a need to strengthen the development team support existing product delivery and create more technical capacity as the customer base develops.

Role overview

The business is looking for a backend-leaning developer who can support the continued development stability and improvement of the platform.

The role would suit someone with strong backend capability good product sense and an interest in working in a smaller software business where developers are close to the product the users and the direction of travel.

You will work alongside the existing team to build maintain and improve platform functionality support backend development contribute to technical decision-making and help ensure the product remains reliable scalable and useful for the customers using it.

Depending on experience this could suit either a strong mid-level developer looking for more ownership or a more senior developer who wants to play a meaningful role in shaping a growing product.

What the role will involve

• Developing and maintaining backend functionality for the platform.
• Working on APIs integrations application logic and database-related development.
• Supporting feature development bug fixing performance improvements and platform stability.
• Working closely with product customer research and account management colleagues to understand how customers use the platform.
• Contributing to technical discussions around architecture scalability security and future product direction.
• Helping improve development processes documentation and technical consistency as the team grows.
• Taking ownership of work from brief through to release with the ability to think through the customer and product impact of what is being built.
• Supporting the wider team in turning customer needs and product ideas into practical technical solutions.

What they are looking for

• Commercial experience as a software developer backend developer full stack developer or software engineer.
• Strong backend development experience.
• Experience working with APIs databases and application logic.
• Good understanding of how live software products are built maintained and improved over time.
• Ability to work in a smaller team where priorities can evolve and communication matters.
• Comfortable working with a level of ambiguity and helping bring structure to technical work.
• Interest in product development not just completing isolated development tasks.
• Able to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
• A practical solutions-focused approach.
• Someone who is calm reliable and able to take ownership.

Useful experience

• Experience in a SaaS product platform start-up or scale-up environment.
• Exposure to cloud platforms DevOps CI/CD infrastructure or deployment processes.
• Understanding of security permissions authentication or platform reliability.
• Experience working close to customers product managers UX account managers or founders.
• Experience with creative marketing brand workflow or content-related products would be useful but is not essential.
