Role: UKCAA/EASA B1 Licenced Engineer

Location: Prestwick

Hours: 554 shift pattern 7am - 7pm

Salary: 75190 basic 3000 shift allowance up to 6000 approval pay (see below details)

UKCAA licence required EASA desirable At least 1 type from below they must be recent: A320 (preferred) AApproval pay 2000 for first wide or narrow body and 1000 for second wide or narrow body up to a total of 6000.

1. Job Purpose

Reporting to the Check Manager the Base Certifier will be responsible for carrying out certification activities within the aircraft zones or areas assigned to them.

2. Job Accountabilities
  • Carry out certification of completed work in accordance with the scope and privileges of the authorisation held and the Storm Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE).

  • Supervise staff allocated to the aircraft or zone for which the Certifying Engineer is accountable working in conjunction with the Lead Mechanic.

  • Ensure any significant findings that could affect aircraft delivery are reported to the Shift Manager as soon as possible.

  • Ensure work is carried out efficiently to support the required aircraft turnaround and delivery times.

  • Maintain continuity of work by completing the handover log and providing a clear handover at each shift change.

  • Ensure required spares are identified and provisioned as efficiently as possible to avoid delays to rectification work.

  • Ensure bay production boards are updated regularly to accurately reflect aircraft progress critical items timelines and personnel.

  • Maintain an awareness of Human Factors and ensure health and safety standards are maintained in accordance with the Company Safety Manual.

  • Raise safety reports following any incidents or the identification of hazards.

  • Ensure the bay and immediate working areas are kept clean and tidy and that hangar housekeeping bay audits are completed daily.

  • Ensure staff are correctly booked onto the relevant system so that hours worked are recorded accurately.

  • Carry out any other duties reasonably requested by Storm.

3. Communication and Working Relationships
3.1 Internal

Senior Management:
The Certifying Engineer will provide information to Senior Management as required.

Middle Management:
The Certifying Engineer will provide information to the Line Maintenance Manager Commercial Manager and Base Maintenance Manager as required.

Operational Departments:
The Certifying Engineer will provide information to the Planning Production Safety and Compliance departments as required.

4. Budget Responsibilities

The Certifying Engineer does not have direct budget responsibility but must understand and manage activities in line with the budget allocated to the station.

5. Qualifications Experience and Knowledge
Qualifications and Education
  • A recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or a similar technical discipline.

  • A valid and current UK CAA Part-66 licence with the appropriate aircraft type rating.

Experience
  • A minimum of five years hands-on aircraft maintenance experience.

  • Previous experience certifying aircraft under a Part-66 licence and the appropriate company authorisation.

Training and Knowledge
  • Strong technical experience within the aviation industry.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of airworthiness regulations the MOE the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and its application.

  • A good understanding of the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) the limitations of technical data and the impact of working outside approved data.

  • Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance production planning.

  • A high standard of written and spoken English.

  • A high level of computer literacy particularly using the Microsoft Office suite.
