Role

SP Energy Networks Drawing Office is expanding to meet growing business demands and we are seeking a skilled/experienced Civil / Structural Technician (Drawing Office)

You will be responsible for developing and implementing high-quality engineering models and drawing solutions for Transmission Network Projects (132kV and above).

Reporting to the Civils Discipline Lead you will play an important role in delivering accurate consistent model and drawing outputs that meet project safety and compliance requirements.

This role will draw on your skills in engineering modelling and drawing creation technical knowledge within Civil / Structural Engineering and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the discipline.

What youll be doing

Preparation of Models & Drawings:Developing both feasibility and detailed design models and drawings for complex transmission / distribution projects.

Compliance:Supporting adherence to health safety quality and environmental standards within project deliverables.

Workload Management:Responsible for organising and progressing your allocated workload efficiently.

Information Gathering:Collecting relevant information to produceaccuratemodels and drawings.

Standards Promotion:Communicating and encouraging the use of drawing standards and procedures.

QA Systems:Ensuring your work complies with externally audited QA systems and supporting the discipline in maintaining these standards.

Database Maintenance:Contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of the drawing office databases.

Design Change System:Contribute to an auditable design/design change system tofacilitateBS EN 9001 accreditation.

Drawing Assessment: Assessing basic and detailed engineering drawingsduring approval process.

Team Support:Providing guidance and support to team members in their areas of expertise.

Client Delivery:Ensuringtimelydelivery of high-quality work to clients achieving high client satisfaction.

Documentation Review:Preparing and reviewing drawing documentation and processes within the drawing office.

Communications:Keeping drawing office manager design lead project staff andclients updated on work progress and any issues that arise.

What you will bring

An understanding of engineering design principles and health & safety requirements.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.

Ability toestablisheffective working relationships with individuals departments and businesses.

Produce technical drawings including plans sections elevations schedules and details.

Proficient in using Autodesk AutoCAD 2022 MS Office suite.

Experience in but not essential to Revit 2024 Civil 3D 2022 Raster Design 2020 Vault ACC and ProjectWise.

Coordinate models with multi-disciplinary teams ensuring alignment with BIM execution plans.

Update models based on design changes markups and engineering feedback.

Support project teams with BIM workflows documentation and digital collaboration tools.

Ensure all work meets quality accuracy and project deadlines.

Contribute to continuous improvement of digital processes and modelling efficiency.

Understanding of construction methods regulations such as British standards (BS) and technical detailing.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Experience with BIM Level 2 workflows and common data environments.

Organisational abilities to ensure high client satisfaction and the ability to plan and manage conflicting requirements to meet challenging deadlines.

Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Capability to developdetailed Civil / Structural and substation design aspects of transmission/distribution network design or other energy-related assets.

Minimum Criteria

• Understanding and knowledge in Civil/Structural model and drawing production with experience in some not necessary all the following:

• General Arrangement Drawings

• RC Detailing

• 3D Modelling of Civil / Structural Elements

• Cable Duct & Trench Layouts / Details

• Drainage Layouts & Details

• Ground Investigation Layouts

• Steelwork Layouts & Details

• Concrete Layouts & Details

• HNC in Civil Engineering or proven engineering experience within Transmission Substation Design - Drawing Office.

• Understanding of Engineering Design drawing production in chosen field.

• Understanding of health and safety requirements and compliance.

• Working knowledge of model & drawing standards and procedures.

• Skilled in using 2D/3D Autodesk products AutoCAD essential with Revit and Civil3D being advantageous.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.

• Full UK driving license
