In this full-time role you will lead and oversee the schools attendance and punctuality systems working closely with pupils families pastoral leads and local authority agencies to improve student attendance and reduce persistent absence across the school.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: Proven administrative or pastoral experience within an educational setting preferably in an attendance admissions or student support role.

  • Technical Proficiency: Experience using school Management Information Systems (e.g. SIMS Arbor or Bromcom) to track report and analyze attendance data accurately.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the tact and diplomacy needed to manage sensitive conversations with parents carers and external agencies.

  • Knowledge & Legislation: Working knowledge of statutory school attendance guidelines safeguarding frameworks and local authority attendance procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily student attendance and punctuality ensuring accurate register completion and conducting first-day absence calls.

  • Analyze attendance data to identify trends patterns and pupils at risk of persistent absence generating clear reports for senior leadership.

  • Coordinate and lead attendance panel meetings with parents and carers to establish supportive attendance improvement plans.

  • Work collaboratively with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) pastoral teams and external local authority welfare officers to manage complex cases.
