The school is seeking an organised and confident Attendance & Admissions Officer to join its administration and pastoral structure.

The Role

The successful candidate will have responsibility for both attendance monitoring and admissions administration.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring daily pupil attendance.

  • Identifying unexplained absences.

  • Following up absence with parents and carers.

  • Monitoring lateness and attendance patterns.

  • Maintaining accurate attendance records.

  • Producing attendance reports.

  • Supporting attendance interventions.

  • Working closely with Heads of Year and pastoral leaders.

  • Arranging attendance meetings.

  • Recording discussions and agreed actions.

  • Communicating attendance expectations to families.

  • Supporting pupils with attendance concerns.

  • Maintaining admissions records.

  • Processing new pupil information.

  • Supporting pupil registration.

  • Preparing admissions documentation.

  • Communicating with prospective and existing families.

  • Supporting transition arrangements.

  • Ensuring pupil information is accurate and up to date.

  • Maintaining confidential records.

Attendance Monitoring

The successful candidate will play an important role in identifying pupils whose attendance requires further attention.

You will monitor daily information investigate unexplained absences and communicate with parents and carers where appropriate.

The role requires persistence professionalism and sensitivity. Some families may require additional support so the successful candidate must be able to approach attendance conversations constructively.

Admissions Administration

Alongside attendance you will support the schools admissions processes.

This may include:

  • Processing applications.

  • Maintaining pupil records.

  • Collecting required documentation.

  • Communicating with families.

  • Supporting new starter arrangements.

  • Coordinating information with relevant departments.

  • Updating the management information system.

  • Supporting admissions meetings.

Accuracy will be essential throughout the admissions process.

Working With Staff

The Attendance & Admissions Officer will work closely with:

  • Senior leaders.

  • Heads of Year.

  • Pastoral teams.

  • Teachers.

  • Administrative colleagues.

  • Parents and carers.

Information must be shared accurately and promptly so that appropriate action can be taken.

  • Previous experience in school administration attendance admissions or pastoral support.

Experience using a school MIS would be advantageous.
