Associate Director OLE
Job Summary
Take the technical discipline lead engineering role in managing the Overhead Line Equipment (OLE)/Overhead Catenary System (OCS) design team for Egis Transportation in the UK and Ireland. Supporting the growth of OLE design services in the UK Ireland and internationally across a range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- To lead growth of the Egis OLE team recruitment of technical and staff and manage the mentoring of junior engineers
- Be responsible for driving sustainable growth and developing the groups market position across OLE within the Rail sector.
- Build strong and trusted client relationships maintain regular senior-level engagement and embed a consistently client-focused culture
- Establish and maintain a professional OLE engineering team capable of delivering high-quality services to clients.
- Maintain personal accountability for the successful delivery of complex projects and provide senior intervention where required
- You may be required to act in the role of OLE CRE and/or CEM within rail projects; responsible for the technical deliverables across the project.
- Review evaluate and implement industry standards to ensure compliance of the engineering deliverables to the standards (quality)
- Coordinate the Quality aspects of the OLE technical deliverables as per the project Quality Management plan principles.
- Review and approve (wherever applicable) all deliverables act as a technical control level across projects.
- Lead strategic oversight of Egis OLE engineering capabilities including:
- Support management of OLE team resource planning
- supply chain partnership strategy where required.
- Strategic recruitment decisions.
- Define and maintain competency of the team within your discipline including:
- Competency assessment
- Professional reviews
- Training plan
- Guidance and mentoring to junior team members
You may also work on:
- Bidding opportunities across the UK and International business: to support the growth of revenue and capability of Egis.
- Projects for multiple commissions across the UK and International business.
Qualifications :
Essential experience and knowledge:
- BSc or similar in bachelors degree (BEng BSc) in a Numerate Scientific or Engineering subject or Higher Education/equivalent training and experience.
- Chartered Engineer membership or equivalent professional status from a recognised institution such as IMechE or IET.
- A clear understanding of a multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality throughout all design stage gates
- Extensive experience in Engineering / Technical functions with experience as a Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) / Engineering Manager (CEM) in major infrastructure/transportation projects
- Ability to communicate effectively to deliver on time to programme
- Project and team-running experience in UK consultancy client or contractor organisation
- Experience of working in a global engineering production environment
- Good knowledge of UK and international design standards such as Network Rail HS2 EN etc.
- Strong understanding of all relevant BIM standards design integration procedures and relevant legislation
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation CDM requirements and Safe by Design principles
Leadership and personal characteristics:
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers
- Excellent management skills with the ability to support mentor and animate a team of engineers and technicians
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Additional Information :
Location and travel:
As 90% of the OLE team is based in Derby the ideal candidate would also be based in a commutable distance from Derby. However other UK Egis offices such as Birmingham Manchester London would be considered with the expectation the candidate would travel to the Derby office a minimum of 2 days per week.
