Wayman Education is working with an Independent Secondary School in Surrey to recruit an Art Technician to support its creative department. The school is seeking someone who can help maintain an organised well-resourced art environment and assist teachers with practical classroom activities.

This opportunity would suit a creative and hands-on individual who enjoys working with different materials and helping pupils explore a range of artistic techniques.

The Role

The Art Technician will support the delivery of art lessons by preparing materials maintaining equipment and ensuring classrooms and specialist workspaces are ready for use.

Duties will include preparing art materials and resources for lessons across relevant Key Stages assisting teachers with practical activities and setting up workspaces for drawing painting sculpture and other creative projects. The successful candidate will maintain art equipment monitor stock levels and arrange the ordering of supplies when required.

The role will also involve keeping art rooms preparation areas and storage spaces tidy ensuring materials and tools are stored safely and assisting with the display of pupils artwork around the school. The Art Technician may also help prepare resources for exhibitions showcases and school events clean equipment after lessons and report any damaged or unsuitable materials.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have an interest in art design or creative education with previous experience working with art materials or in a practical environment being advantageous. Strong organisational skills attention to detail and a hands-on approach to preparing resources are essential.

The successful applicant should be comfortable managing equipment and materials responsibly working collaboratively with teaching staff and supporting different creative projects. An understanding of safe working practices when handling tools and materials is also important.
