Job Summary

Are you passionate about helping learners achieve their potential We are looking to recruit Bank Additional Learning Support Workers to join our dedicated support team.

As an Additional Learning Support Worker you will provide individualised support to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities helping them to overcome barriers to learning and participate fully in college life. Working closely with tutors support staff and the Additional Learning Support Coordinator you will encourage students to develop independence confidence and achieve their learning goals.

This is a Bank Staff opportunity and successful candidates will be offered a variable hours contract.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Provide appropriate one-to-one and group support to learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Support students to engage actively in learning and develop independent learning skills.
  • Assist with removing barriers to learning and promoting student retention and achievement.
  • Contribute to student support planning and participate in learner reviews.
  • Provide personal care support where required.
  • Support exam access arrangements for learners.
  • Liaise effectively with tutors and other support staff regarding learner support needs.
  • Attend monitoring planning and training meetings as required.
  • Complete relevant administration and record-keeping accurately and promptly.
  • Work across college sites as required and support learners in a professional inclusive and respectful manner

  • Essential Criteria
  • Good written and verbal communication skills at GCSE level or willingness to work towards achieving them.
  • Experience of working with students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive environment for learners.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong organisational skills and a professional approach.

  • This vacancy is for Bank Staff and successful candidates will be employed on a variable hours contract.
  • In DN Colleges we call this role Additional Learning Support Worker but you might know this as Learning Support Assistant Learning Support Worker SEN Support Assistant Student Support Assistant or Additional Support Assistant.
  • Applicants must be authorised to work in the UK. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time

The LETs Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team capturing their experimentation in a journal.
