Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Substitute Teacher you will supervise the children at the Center and provide a program that meets their physical social emotional and intellectual needs in accordance with the mission of Mercy Employee Child Care Center.

Every day you will plan and conduct engaging activities ensure a safe and nurturing environment and adapt to the needs of each child under your care upholding the Centers educational philosophy.

To be successful in this role you will possess strong early childhood education skills a compassionate demeanor and the ability to effectively manage a classroom and foster positive child development.

  • To ensure the safety of children through constant supervision effective arrangement of space proper maintenance of equipment and regular practice of fire drills.
  • Monitors the welfare health and safety of all children and reports all situations to the Director. To provide positive caring guidance to help children develop the ability to be selfdisciplined.
  • To never use corporal or harsh punishment never raise your voice or be even a little rough with a child never withholding food.
  • To be warm supportive and caring with every child by responding to their needs quickly and appropriately.
  • To read understand and be in compliance with all child care licensing standards.
  • To make an effort to ensure parents receive adequate information about their childs experiences at the Center.
Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in an unrelated area with two three semester hour early childhood education college courses with one course being either Introduction to Early Childhood Education (ECE 101) or Guidance Strategies (ECE 103) and at least 910 hours of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children six years of age who are not related to the individual.
  • Twelve semester hours in college level credits in child growth and development and/or early childhood education which must include either Introduction to early childhood education (ECE 101) or guidance strategies (ECE103) and at least 1365 hours of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children six years of age who are not related to the individual.
  • Completion of a vocational or occupational education sequence in child growth and development and at least 1820 hours of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children six years of age who are not related to the individual.
  • Completion of a course of training approved by the Department that includes training and work experience with children and at least 1820 hours of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children six years of age who are not related to the individual.
  • A current Colorado Level 1 credential and at least 3640 hours of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children six years of age who are not related to the individual.
  • Two (2) three (3) credit college course with one course being either Introduction to early childhood education (ECE 101) or guidance strategies (ECE 103) and at least 3640 hours of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children six years of age who are not related to the individual.
  • Associates Degree in Child Development or early childhood education
  • Sixty semester hours in early childhood education which must include either Introduction to early childhood education (ECE 101) or guidance strategies (ECE 103) and at least 910 hours of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children six years of age who are not related to the individual.
  • Current certification as a Child Development Associate (CDA) or certified Child Care Professional (CCP) or other Developmentapproved credential (No additional experience required)
  • Masters Degree Masters degree in Early Childhood Education Elementary Education Special Education Family and Child Development or Child Psychology Documentation of early childhood teacher qualifications and ability to pass the Central Registry Inquiry Colorado Bureau of Investigation fingerprint check and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint check.
