Job Description:

An opportunity for an Software Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Software Mission Systems Team which is responsible for building the future of our development ecosystem through infrastructure automation and software enablement.

The jobholder will contribute to core programs and platform initiatives supporting strategic projects such as our internal PaaS roadmap alongside building the foundational tools automation systems and virtual labs that empower our entire development team to deliver mission-critical software safely and efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main tasks of the jobholder will be:

• Design configure and implement robust CI/CD pipelines and automated quality integration (code analysis linters and GUI testing frameworks).
• Develop and implement software architecture APIs and internal tooling for our internal PaaS to enable seamless self-service application deployment.
• Create and deploy automated virtualized test environments using containerization (Docker Podman) and hypervisors (KVM QEMU) to simulate production setups.
• Automate infrastructure deployment flows using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and advanced scripting (Bash/Python) to achieve one-command environments.
• Optimize virtual network architectures and middleware (DDS) to support high-throughput real-time distributed data communications.
• Produce technical documentation including platform architecture designs and developer self-service guides.

SKILLS

• Education: Degree in Software Engineering Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
• Experience: At least 5 years in Software Engineering DevOps or Platform Engineering.
• Soft skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills team spirit and the ability to work in complex international and multicultural environments.
• Languages: Advanced level in English & Spanish (both written and spoken).
• Technical knowledge: Linux Systems Administration network configuration Python/Bash scripting and experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI GitHub Actions or Jenkins).
• Valuable / Nice to have: Familiarity with C build ecosystems (CMake) Qt framework and DDS (Data Distribution Service) implementations will be valued.
