Airservices Australia is seeking an experienced Flight Procedures Chief Designer to lead the development implementation and ongoing maintenance of instrument flight procedures that support the safe efficient and environmentally responsible management of Australias airspace.
This is a unique leadership opportunity for a highly skilled flight procedure design professional to influence strategic flight path outcomes drive technical excellence and lead a team of specialist designers within a highly regulated aviation environment.

The Role & The Team
Reporting to the AFPD & AIM Manager you will provide leadership and technical oversight across all flight procedure design activities ensuring compliance with ICAO CASA and Airservices standards while supporting strategic airspace and flight path initiatives.
As a key member of the AFPD/AIM leadership team you will:
- Lead instrument flight procedure design activities from concept through to flight validation.
- Provide technical assurance and governance for all procedure design outputs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety quality and operational performance.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing team of Flight Procedure Designers.
- Support strategic planning for airspace and flight path change programs.
- Lead regulatory compliance activities including CASA audits and quality assurance reviews.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the aviation industry.

The Person
You are an accomplished aviation professional with extensive experience in Instrument Flight Procedure Design and a passion for technical excellence and leadership.
To be successful you will ideally possess:
- ICAO qualifications and substantial experience in Instrument Flight Procedure Design.
- Demonstrated expertise in ICAO SARPs PANS-OPS CASA Part 173 and related regulatory frameworks.
- Strong leadership coaching and people development skills.
- Proven experience managing complex technical programs and delivering outcomes in regulated environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement influencing and communication capabilities.
- Experience driving operational improvement quality systems and transformation initiatives.
