Job Summary
A leading organisation is seeking a Technical Manager to take strategic and operational responsibility for the technical building assets systems and infrastructure of a major shopping centre. The successful candidate will oversee electrical mechanical HVAC fire protection renewable energy building management and other critical systems ensuring safe reliable and efficient operations while protecting long-term asset value. This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong professional who combines facilities management expertise commercial awareness project delivery capability and strong contractor management skills.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation maintenance servicing and repair of mechanical electrical and technical infrastructure.
- Monitor equipment performance investigate failures and implement preventative measures to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
- Manage asset lifecycle planning condition assessments maintenance histories and capital replacement programmes.
- Plan and deliver technical capital and building improvement projects within agreed budgets timelines and statutory requirements.
- Manage contractors and specialist service providers against SLAs KPIs budgets quality standards and OHS requirements.
- Develop and manage operational maintenance Capex and Opex budgets.
- Identify and implement sustainability initiatives energy-efficiency improvements and building management system enhancements.
- Ensure technical operations comply with applicable regulations company standards and risk-management requirements.
- Maintain accurate technical reporting asset records inspection documentation and building information.
- Build strong relationships with tenants service providers and internal stakeholders while ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Technical Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Facilities Management Diploma would be advantageous.
- Relevant OHS training and/or certifications.
- NQF Level 6 qualification.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Technical or Facilities Management role preferably within regional or super-regional shopping centres.
- Advanced knowledge of facilities management building maintenance and project management.
- Strong understanding of safety security technical compliance and operational risk.
- Proven ability to manage contractors budgets capital projects and complex building infrastructure.
- Strong communication collaboration decision-making conflict-management and organisational abilities.
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced commercial property environment.
