Regional Operations Manager KZN

Our client is seeking a Regional Operations Manager to join their team in KZN. The successful candidate will ensure that service levels meet clients expectations through the efficient and cost-effective utilization of assets and effective management of 3rd party contractors. The role is also responsible for managing the workforce within a disciplined motivated and safe environment while ensuring that all relevant environmental and legislative requirements are adhered to.

In order to be considered for this role you must have the following:

• Grade 12 and a tertiary education or relevant degree preferably in transport.

• Management qualification is an advantage.

• Minimum of 3 years of senior management experience preferably in the transport industry.

• Experience in financial forecasting and cost control.

• Sound working knowledge of LRA RTA and Dangerous goods legislation.

• Proficient in MS Office

• Strong communication delegation networking conflict management and analytical skills.

• Ability to cope with pressure make independent decisions lead and motivate people and empower staff through delegation.
  

Key Accountabilities (But not limited to):

• Maximise the efficient utilization of the fleet while remaining within all legal boundaries and improving turnaround times.

• Ensure that customers experience the expected service level and that both customers and the Sales department are kept informed of any service delays.

• Manage staff assets and suppliers according to company policies manage through daily operating indicators and monitor variable costs daily.

• Ensure depot facilities and assets are maintained to acceptable levels and legal requirements and communicate daily with the Maintenance department for proactive vehicle servicing.

• Maintain and improve agreed cost of sales continuously reduce operating and overhead costs and manage weekly/monthly forecasting as well as annual budgets.

• Co-ordinate the use of all sub-contractors and participate in the assessment and costings for large quotes and tenders.

• Ensure all safety and environmental standards (ISO) are maintained and all vehicles and staff comply with applicable legislation such as the Road Traffic Act.

• Measure staff performance ensure adequate training and actively participate in Shop steward meetings disciplinary chairing and SHEQ meetings.
