The Civil Engineer is responsible for the structural design verification and approval of lattice towers monopoles
lighting masts and associated foundations. The role carries formal signing authority for As-Built Documentation COCs as well as SANS 10400 appointment forms. The incumbent leads design projects ensures compliance with all relevant standards and contributes to new product development optimization of current structures as well as applying good design practices to ensure costeffective streamlined manufacturing

- Exercise Professional Sign-Off on tower and foundation designs as-Built documentation and SANS 10400 appointment forms.
- Ensuring all designs comply with relevant industry standards safety regulations and client specifications through rigorous quality control processes.
- Mentoring and training junior engineers sharing knowledge and best practices to help them develop their skills.
- Lead design projects from concept to completion ensuring delivery within agreed timelines budgets and performance requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends technologies materials and standards incorporating innovative solutions into design methodologies.
- Use develop and improve in-house design programs and computational tools.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Technical Manager or direct supervisor.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participate in requirement-gathering sessions proposal discussions and technical clarifications with clients when required.
- Translate customer needs and market requirements into clear structural specifications.
- Perform structural design and verification of lattice towers monopoles fixed solar masts Scissor masts highlight masts and various other masts or towers including their respective foundations and associated structural components.
- Develop design solutions that comply with national and international standards (e.g. SANS 10225 SANS 10160 TIA-222-H etc.).
- Produce and validate design calculations models and simulations ensuring adequate design margins and reliable performance in all specified operating environments.
- Researching development and testing of theoretical and conceptual designs with senior engineer.
- Maintain a complete data registry of product designs client specifications and revision histories.
- Record and track all modifications to existing products ensuring full traceability.
- Continuous liaison with the factory management will be required not only pertaining to specific design but in aid of maintaining good manufacturing processes as well.
- Maintain develop and improve in-house design programs and computational tools used for structural analysis and product development.
- Ensure these tools remain accurate validated and aligned with current design methodologies.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Prerequisite:
- Bachelor of Engineering (BEng / BSc Eng or B-Tech) in Civil Engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Pr (Tech) Eng with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- 2 years of relevant structural or product design engineering experience.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software and engineering modelling tools).
- Competency in CAD / draughting software (e.g. AutoCAD SolidWorks or similar).
- Strong understanding of SANS SABS and international structural standards.
- Ability to develop and maintain engineering calculation tools and design programs.
- Sound understanding of material science fabrication methods and manufacturing constraints.
