Our client is looking for the following candidate to join the Network Health & Automation product team within the Global Connectivity domain at the Group IT Hub South Africa.

The team provides IT network management solutions to ensure reliable and efficient network operations across global networks covering areas such as monitoring logging automation and compliance management.

As an entry-level developer you will support global operational teams by equipping them with orchestration and automation tools while working within a highly stable global delivery framework.

• Software Development Foundations: Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. Python JavaScript) paired with a solid understanding of software development principles algorithms data structures and RESTful APIs.
• Infrastructure & Scripting: Strong willingness to write Python scripts for automation tasks (such as ETL backups or network checks) and maintain modern cloud infrastructure using AWS Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
• Internship or project experience in software development.
• Basic practical experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies.

Core Development & Engineering:

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of algorithms data structures design patterns and RESTful APIs.
• Linux operational skills and general IT troubleshooting capabilities.

Operational & Team Delivery:

• Ability to interpret basic business needs and accurately implement technical solutions.
• Strong commitment to delivering high-quality work on time while working collaboratively within a team environment.
• Firm commitment to upskilling in the area of enterprise IT networking (e.g. IP networks routing switching).

Advantageous Skills:

• Experience in IT infrastructure or application operations.
• Experience working with enterprise network technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Azure Google Cloud) and containerization tools (Docker Kubernetes Helm).
• Exposure to frontend technologies (HTML CSS React Angular) and building low-code web applications.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices Git version control and building CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks.
• Strong verbal written interpersonal and stakeholder management communication skills.
• Exposure to Agile working methods (such as Scrum ceremonies).

Key Responsibilities:

• Automation & Tooling: Support global IT network operations teams by equipping them with orchestration and automation tools and implementing practical automation use cases.
• Scripting & Applications: Write Python scripts for varied operational tasks including ETL data flows system backups and network device configuration checks.
• Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintain core cloud infrastructure by working actively with AWS Kubernetes Dockerfiles and Helm charts.
• Web Development: Develop and maintain low-code web applications utilizing web development skills to optimize the internal user experience.
• Support & Troubleshooting: Operate and troubleshoot production applications supporting internal users and resolving complex operational problems.
• Security & Compliance: Update digital certificates patch identified security vulnerabilities and uphold a strict high standard of cybersecurity at all times.
• Code Quality & Documentation: Document procedures system configurations and engineered solutions while actively participating in team code reviews.
