Full Stack Developer

Location: Cape Town (Hybrid 2 days in office Gardens area)
Hours: 07:00 15:30 SAST
Employment Type: 12-Month Contract
Salary: R60000 R65000 per month

Our client a fast-growing and innovative organisation within the education technology space is looking for a skilled Full Stack Developer to join their engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across the full development lifecycle building scalable applications and contributing to modern cloud-native solutions in a collaborative environment.

Youll work alongside cross-functional teams to design build and maintain high-quality applications that enhance user experiences and support business growth.

• Design develop deploy and maintain scalable web applications
• Build user-facing applications using modern frontend frameworks
• Develop backend services and APIs using and TypeScript
• Collaborate with product platform and engineering teams across regions
• Optimise application performance scalability and reliability
• Develop proof of concepts and prototype solutions
• Contribute to architecture discussions and technical improvements
• Maintain technical documentation and development standards
• Support CI/CD processes and cloud deployments
• Ensure solutions are secure maintainable and aligned with best practices

• 56 years of commercial software development experience
• Degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field
• Strong experience with JavaScript and TypeScript
• Backend development using
• Frontend development using React (experience with Svelte or similar frameworks is advantageous)
• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs
• Strong understanding of HTML5 CSS3 and modern frontend development practices
• Experience with Git version control and Agile development environments
• Experience with unit testing debugging and troubleshooting applications
• Knowledge of software design patterns (MVC MVVM etc.)
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar)
• Experience working with CMS or LMS platforms is advantageous

Experience with cloud-native development preferably AWS including:

• AWS services (Lambda S3 RDS DynamoDB API Gateway and CloudWatch)
• Serverless architectures and serverless frameworks (e.g. Serverless Framework)
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Containerisation technologies

• Python or PHP development experience
• Craft CMS (or similar CMS platforms)
• Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Experience with Jira and Agile delivery processes
• Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) development experience
• Exposure to AI concepts Large Language Models (LLMs) or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• AWS Certifications
• Experience within education technology (EdTech) environments
