Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented trainable Evidence Custodian / Data Handler to join our Digital Forensics team. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity security and traceability of digital evidence throughout its lifecycle. No prior forensics experience is required we will train the right person. What matters most is honesty precision and a willingness to follow structured procedures exactly.
What Youll Do
- Receive register catalogue and securely store digital evidence and forensic exhibits.
- Maintain accurate chain-of-custody records and evidence tracking systems.
- Coordinate the movement and transfer of evidence between clients investigators laboratories and authorised parties.
- Follow structured checklists to ensure timely collection of information documentation and evidence from clients.
- Monitor case progress and communicate with clients regarding outstanding requirements and deliverables.
- Maintain accurate documentation logs and case records.
- Assist forensic investigators by preparing organising and managing evidence for examination.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements (Essential)
- Matric / Grade 12 (or equivalent).
- 02 years work experience recent graduates and career changers are welcome to apply.
- Demonstrated integrity honesty and sound ethical judgment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures exactly without deviation.
- Comfortable with structured repetitive documentation and logging work.
- Basic computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
- Clear professional written and verbal communication in English.
- Able to work on-site in Johannesburg this role cannot be performed remotely.
- Valid passport or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe (required for potential client/site travel).
Advantageous (Not Required)
- A qualification in Information Technology Digital Forensics Criminal Justice Records Management or a related field.
- Prior experience in digital forensics cybersecurity legal services investigations law enforcement or records/evidence management.
- Understanding of chain-of-custody principles and evidence handling procedures.
- Knowledge of data protection information security or privacy requirements.
- Prior client-facing or customer service experience.
