Disposal Manager

Our client is seeking a Disposal Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will oversee the safe compliant and efficient operation of the disposal facility including waste acceptance treatment and final disposal activities. The role is responsible for ensuring the effective management of staff plant materials and equipment required for the disposal process while maintaining efficient operations across the landfill shunt yard and weighbridge in line with permit conditions and relevant legislation.

In order to be considered for this role you must have the following:

• National Diploma or B Degree in Civil or Industrial engineering or a related Environmental field.

• Five years of supervisory experience in the construction field (heavy plant machinery or bulk earthmoving) hazardous waste disposal or production plant-related environments.

• Experience working with budgets cost control and analyses on operations performance.

• Understanding and knowledge of the minimum requirements for landfills and the handling of hazardous waste.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Strong skills in communication networking forecasting conflict management and analytical problem-solving.

• Ability to cope with pressure make independent decisions lead and motivate people and empower staff through delegation.
  

Key Accountabilities (But not limited to):

• Ensure operations are carried out in compliance with all relevant company procedures and compile Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/Works Instructions for the work performed.

• Implement and maintain key performance indicators for the areas managed and continuously embark on cost improvement exercises.

• Manage the weighbridge process ensuring proper acceptance of waste accurate weighing in and out of trucks and proper sampling of waste.

• Manage Landfill Cells ensuring proper control of resources (plant staff raw materials) correct waste disposal methods and optimal plant usage.

• Ensure proper construction practices regarding bulk earthmoving are followed the landfill cell is constructed as per design requirements and proper blending of solids to liquids ratio is achieved.

• Maintain the sites general infrastructure and ensure full compliance with operational and legal Health and Safety requirements.

• Ensure efficient communication between Logistics Commercial operations support functions the weighbridge and site operations.
