Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the development of lithium-ion battery packs and emerging battery technologies. You will lead mechanical design activities from concept evaluation and prototyping through validation and product integration.

As the technical specialist for battery pack architecture structural design and thermal performance you will collaborate with global engineering teams suppliers and other stakeholders to deliver production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical development of lithium-ion battery packs from concept through product integration.
  • Develop battery pack architecture module layouts and mechanical design solutions.
  • Perform structural and/or thermal analysis and simulation to optimise safety performance and reliability.
  • Create 3D CAD designs and support prototype fabrication testing and design refinement.
  • Validate battery capacity runtime and thermal performance against product requirements.
  • Evaluate new battery technologies design concepts and supplier capabilities.
  • Assess technical feasibility cost risks development effort and commercial value.
  • Prepare technical specifications development plans and design-review materials.
  • Work with internal teams and external suppliers to progress solutions towards production readiness.
  • Present data-driven findings and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with relevant battery safety and transportation standards.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Preferably at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven hands-on experience in battery pack or battery module mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Creo SolidWorks or equivalent.
  • Experience in engineering simulation and analysis; ANSYS is preferred.
  • Experience in at least one of the following:
    • Battery pack structural design and analysis
    • Battery pack thermal design and management
  • Practical experience in prototyping and performance verification including capacity runtime or thermal testing.
  • Experience working with regional or global suppliers.
  • Strong communication presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Self-driven and collaborative with a structured approach to technical problem-solving.
Advantageous Experience
  • Battery cell selection and specification.
  • Technical specification writing and development planning.
  • Design reviews and supplier technical evaluation.
  • Knowledge of relevant UL UN and IEC battery standards and requirements.

Required Skills:

Proven hands-on experience in battery pack or battery module mechanical design. Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Creo SolidWorks or equivalent. Experience in engineering simulation and analysis; ANSYS is preferred. Experience in at least one of the following: Battery pack structural design and analysis Battery pack thermal design and management Practical experience in prototyping and performance verification including capacity runtime or thermal testing.
