Mid-Senior Database Administrator

Job Title: MidSenior Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: On-site Bucharest (5 days/week)
Engagement Type: Freelance / B2B Contract
Experience Level: MidSenior (3 years)

Role Overview

Responsible for the administration stability performance and security of enterprise-grade database environments. The role requires hands-on ownership of production systems close collaboration with development and infrastructure teams and on-site availability five days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Install configure upgrade and maintain database platforms in production and non-production environments
• Ensure high availability performance and reliability of databases through proactive monitoring and tuning
• Design implement and manage backup recovery and disaster recovery strategies
• Diagnose and resolve complex database incidents performance bottlenecks and data integrity issues
• Collaborate with application teams on schema design query optimization and release support
• Implement and enforce database security access control and compliance best practices
• Automate routine DBA tasks and contribute to operational efficiency
• Produce and maintain technical documentation procedures and operational runbooks
• Participate in on-call rotation and critical incident response when required

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator in production environments
• Strong experience with Oracle Database (11g / 12c / 19c); multi-version environments preferred
• Solid understanding of database architecture indexing partitioning and query optimization
• Proven experience with backup and recovery (RMAN) performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Strong knowledge of PL/SQL and database-level scripting
• Experience working in Linux/Unix environments
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of database operations
• Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills
• Professional working proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with high-availability setups (RAC Data Guard)
• Exposure to other database technologies (PostgreSQL SQL Server MySQL)
• Experience supporting mission-critical or regulated environments
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (Shell Python Ansible)
• Prior experience working in B2B or consultancy-based engagements
